Truman Smith is a Newcastle based singer/songwriter known for his give-all performances who together with virtuoso percussionist Alex Quayle, make up the Truman Smith Duo. The duo boast an eclectic repertoire of covers as well as some of the most entertaining gigs around - a huge sound for just two people; covering pop, blues, funk and a range of other genres.
Smith’s original songs are at their core, classic melody driven pop, with each song bringing a hint of different genres. From blues and folk to 60s/70s nostalgia. The versatility of his songs are complimented by the flexibility of his voice, ranging from delicate to strong and weighted.
Smith’s debut EP ‘Three and Two Halves’ has been received with great praise since his sold-out EP Launch:
“It’s thoughtful, structured and aurally pleasing, contemporary without being naff, and the songs really stand up. A true “must listen” for those who follow the local music scene” – Newcastle Live.
“This EP echoes Truman’s love for classic pop music, track 1 ‘Hold On Me’ is a huge crowd favourite at Truman’s live shows and kicks the EP off perfectly” – The Swamp House.
Since forming, Truman Smith Duo have played phenomenal live shows, being highly sought after by Newcastle venues. Their gigs are energetic and boisterous, which is balanced by the depth and colour of Smith’s new material.
