Six sensational weeks lead to this day, four Heats, two Semi Finals, and now, as Joey Tempest, lead singer of the 80s hair metal band Europe (who were truly The Beatles of their day…) famously sung: “It’s the final countdown”...
Twenty acts originally entered this prestigious competition, and then the twenty were whittled down to the final five who appeared at yesterday’s Grand Final. This day was always going to be a do or die affair, and each and every band competed like this battle was one to the death…

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again, time flies when you’re having fun, so that’s probably how we’ve already made it to the first Semi Final of the Passport To Airlie Battle Of The Bands Competition. After four fantastic and fast weeks, five of the ten winners came together in this first of two Semi Finals, and as they’d all done in respective Heats, gave it their all, rocked their hearts out, and rock the crowd’s world!Read the full post

Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, and the Stag is where the entertainment is!
For the fourth week in a row, the Stag & Hunter Hotel has been the gracious host to the Newcastle chapter of the Passport To Airlie Battle Of The Bands Competition, and what a competition it has been so far. Hard to believe though that not only is it already spring, but at the timing of writing, it’s already Heat Four of the comp! What is it they say about time flying when you’re having fun?... This Sunday, it was a sure sign that Spring had started, as there were five bands that put the Heat into Heat Four...
