A country boy hailing from North-West NSW, Benny Nelson knew from a young age that his small-town roots wouldn’t tame his big aspirations and at just 16 years of age, Benny moved to Sydney to pursue his career as a musician.
In Sydney, he attended Northmead Creative And Performing Arts High School where a world of opportunity awaited.
In 2010, Benny performed as a Featured Artist in The Schools Spectacular at Sydney Entertainment Centre which was broadcasted across the Channel 9 Network. He was asked back 4 consecutive years thereafter.
A highlight of the show was performing his original song, "Mother" -a tribute to his mother Vivienne Nelson- who sadly passed in 2010 from breast cancer. The song was played to crowds of up to 9000 each show for four shows and a television audience of up to 2 million. Benny was then asked back to The Schools Spectacular as an Alumni Guest Artist and to write a song with John Foreman and students. The Song ‘SUPERNOVA’ was recorded and released by Sony Music in Sydney in November 2015 and made it to #66 on the aria Charts.
In 2013 Benny was awarded the 2013 Junior Citizen of The Year in his hometown of Warialda, NSW and has also received scholarships from The Hon. John Brown's Sports & Tourism Youth Foundation and a Talent Development scholarship from the International Screen Academy.
Benny has recorded and released his Debut EP "Follow Me" and is currently travelling the east coast of Australia with his band playing a massive 27 date, 3 month tour!
